MASH & Sam Ash
One afternoon I was behind my counter review my data base (I often scan my ‘hot list’ for clients I might have not been in contact for a while. With ‘internet marketing’ there are so many more opptunities to generate possible sales at a click of a button! Just then I looked up and who is standing right in front of me? Mr. Alan Alda! I smiled and said,, “Greetings Mr Alda great to see you here on music row”
I have been a Alan Alda fan since I first saw “M*A*S*H” on TV 30 years ago. So it was a pleasant surprise a few months ago when Alan came strolling in the store with is grand daughter checking out the sights and sounds of music row. I introduced myself and imdeatily offered them the 10cents tour! As we walked the various departments Alan and I developed a nice repore with each other. He has stopped in serveral times Great time talking to guitars. One day when Allen was in the store JJ French of Twisted Sister happened to Poppin also. Sam Ash on 48th St. music Row was the place to be and you never knew who was going to be coming in or going out LOL. JJ happen to be a big fan of Allen as well as mash and ask me to introduce him. I went over to Alan and said I like to introduce you to my buddy JJ French of the band Twisted Sister. Alan beimng a gentlemen as always was happy to oblige. JJ began telling Alan of the successes of Twisted Sister and how popular they were in the music World… that I stepped in and said JJ how many records did your album stay hungry’s sell? Stay hungry was twisted sisters top-selling album. He said he sold about 3 million copies! I didn’t looked over to Alan and said how many people saw the last episode of mash he looked at me then he looked at JJ and then with a big smile he said about 106 million!! Lesson learned here be careful when you start to boast! It was still fun watching Alan and JJ interact… we’ll have a buncha laughs!
