Given their place out there as elite collectibles approaching $10,000 asking costs, it’s no shock the Klon Centaur has lengthy been copied by different builders. The most effective worth of the bunch is JHS Pedals’ solderless DIY Notaklön package.

DIY not your factor? Worry not; a passing familiarity with Legos is all you want, as meeting consists of sticking two completed circuit boards into its housing and bolting them down (and there’s a video tutorial). Put aside a half-hour or so and you are able to do this. There’s even silicone goop to hide the “legendary” diodes.

The pedal has knobs similar to the unique – Quantity, Treble, and Achieve – together with a change (labeled “-/+”) that engages the Shamrock mod JHS gave its Klon KTR to extend total increase by +4db.

Plugged in, the Notaklön gives a formidable model of the graceful, open sound and rounded treble well-known within the authentic. Shamrock will increase punch in overdrive, significantly midrange.

At only one % of the price of a classic Centaur, the JHS Notaklön gives a nearly similar sound signature at an undeniably discount value.
