“This is without doubt one of the rarest guitars I’ve ever come throughout,” exclaims Jake Bugg as he showcases his 1953 Gibson J-185 within the first episode of the brand new season of Guitar.com’s My Guitars & Me.
“This one’s simply stayed at my home so it in all probability wants a little bit of a setup. This one positively doesn’t go on the highway.”

How did the Nottingham-bred singer-songwriter come so as to add such a uncommon guitar to his assortment? Tokyo, and lots of booze, naturally.
“I got here throughout this in Tokyo, Japan. I’d by no means truly seen one earlier than,” he says. “We saved taking a look at it for a bit, [tried] to look it up [online] and never a lot was arising. And ultimately I requested the man, ‘Might I’ve a go on that, please?’ And he was like, ‘No.’
“I needed to get out footage on my cellphone of guitars I already owned, and ultimately he got here spherical and let me have a go on it.”
He goes on: “I had a couple of drinks, considered it, got here again, after which was like, ‘Let’s go and purchase it!’ The worst ‘I’ll go give it some thought’ state of affairs ever.”
“It’s positively one of many rarest guitars I’ve ever come throughout,” he provides. “It seems to be prefer it tells a narrative. It seems to be prefer it needs to be in a museum or one thing. However I completely find it irresistible. This one doesn’t go on the highway. It stays at house and is used on data every time I would like it.”
Elsewhere within the episode, Bugg particulars how he got here to personal his 1954 Butterscotch Blonde Fender Esquire electrical.
“I didn’t actually know quite a bit about these guitars – I used to be on tour in America with Noel Gallagher and Snow Patrol, and the guitar tech for Noel Gallagher’s guitarist took me to Gruhn’s in Nashville. We went to the upstairs room and so they had all these outdated, wonderful guitars. I simply love the color on it. It’s not too flash. And it simply had that nation type of tone. It was simply so on the spot after I plugged it in.
