From Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine to Jason Newsted, Metallica’s early years have been marked by a revolving door of members earlier than the band settled on its present lineup.

One of many musicians who performed a pivotal position within the band’s infancy was guitarist Lloyd Grant, who recorded a solo for an early model of Hit the Lights, the observe that launched Metallica to the world on Steel Blade’s 1982 Steel Bloodbath compilation album.

Regardless of his work on the band’s earliest authentic recording, Grant would hardly be remembered as – or thought-about – an authentic member of Metallica by most. His time with the band was temporary, and because the guitarist tells Actuality Verify TV [via Blabbermouth] “I don’t assume Metallica needs to say I’m an authentic member as a result of the band weren’t actually shaped then.”

“It was, like, I used to be searching for individuals to play with and we had {a magazine}, or a weekly [publication] that comes out on each Thursday, and Lars [Ulrich] put an advert in and I answered the advert,” he says. “And we began jamming and so forth.”

Reflecting on his early reference to the band, and founders James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in a earlier interview, Grant stated: “Once I met Lars, they weren’t known as Metallica. We have been simply forming a band on the time, so there was no identify on the time so far as I do know.”

“I met Lars via The Recycler [newspaper]. They acquired kinda large and also you had the model for Orange County.Yeah, we have been jamming. We have been enjoying plenty of British heavy metallic. We have been enjoying covers. And I used to be beginning to write another stuff.”

“I don’t know the place they [the tapes] are proper now [Laughs],” he added. “However it wasn’t something vital, if that’s what you meant. We have been simply jamming. We could have recorded fairly a little bit of it. I don’t know. Everytime you see [Lars], ask him that.”
